Legora raises capital and approaches milestone valuation

The funds will be used to support continued expansion in North America, and to deepen investment in the Legora aOS.

Legora, the agentic operating system for legal professionals, has announced it has raised a $550m Series E at an $8.8bn post-money valuation.

The round was led by Atreides Management, with participation from new investors, including Baron Capital, Capital Group, Fidelity Management & Research Company, Glade Brook Capital Partners, and J.P Morgan. Every existing investor, such as Accel, Benchmark, Bessemer Venture Partners, General Catalyst, ICONIQ, Insight Venture Partners, Menlo Ventures, Redpoint Ventures, Salesforce Ventures and Sands Capital participated.

Legora built the round around investors with a long-time horizon. It brings together established long-term holders with strategic investors, institutions that work with law firms and in-house legal teams every day and have a close view of where legal work is heading.

The round follows a period of rapid growth – Legora went from $1m to $100m in ARR in less than 18 months – faster than any other enterprise software company selling through a direct sales team. The next $100m took less than six months. ARR now stands at over $200m. The new valuation compares with $5.6bn at the company’s previous round.

Legal teams are moving beyond AI assistants toward agents that carry out multi-step work, and Legora’s offering and geographic footprint are expanding to meet that shift. In-house legal teams, only a small fraction of Legora’s customer base a year ago, comprised over 40% of new customers in the third quarter.

In the United States, now Legora’s largest market by revenue, over half of the AmLaw 50 are customers, and Legora opened its first US office only in spring 2025.

“The opportunity in legal is enormous and we are still early. AI is changing the role of the lawyer, with more time for judgment and advice, and it is reshaping how law firms and in-house legal teams are organized and how their work gets done.

“We intend to lead that shift in the US and globally. We chose investors who share our long-term view and know what it takes to build a lasting company. They are the right partners for the years ahead.”

Max Junestrand, CEO and Co-Founder, Legora

The newly raised capital will support continued expansion in North America, where Legora has offices in New York, Denver, Chicago, Houston, San Francisco, Toronto and Mexico City, as well as in its markets across Europe and Asia-Pacific. The funds will also deepen investment in the Legora aOS – the agentic operating system that lawyers and their agents work in – bringing new products like agentic in-take, horizon scanning and legal research to life.

“Legal is a sophisticated market with demanding buyers, and the bar for software is high. Legora has become the platform that law firms and in-house legal teams adopt and then expand across their organizations, and it has done so while growing at remarkable speed.

“Legora has also built a sustainable business along the way, with the discipline to scale fast and stay efficient. We are excited to support the team as Legora enters its next stage of growth in the US and globally.”

Gavin Baker, Managing Partner and CIO, Atreides

Legora was founded in 2023 and launched its platform in October 2024. It now has over 1,000 employees across 18 offices and is used by over 140,000 legal professionals at over 2,400 leading law firms and in-house legal teams across over 80 markets.

“Growth only counts if the business underneath it holds up. We have passed $200m in ARR, and we want every dollar of it to be a durable one.

“That means healthy gross margins, high retention, and a cost structure that gets stronger as we scale. This round lets us keep building that way.”
